Your starting prompt.
Compare month-to-date Google Cloud spend for [project] through [cutoff and timezone] with the same elapsed reporting window in [baseline month]. Show full-month totals separately, keep missing export history visible, and reconcile gross cost, credits and net cost by service. Label provisional data and do not compare a partial month with an entire baseline month as if coverage matched. Keep any forecast separate from observed spending.
Copy this starting point, then replace the placeholders with your own inputs.
Method and review
Keep the assumptions visible.
Normalize suppliers, units, currencies and purchasing periods. Separate recurring commitments, one-off purchases and contract assumptions before proposing savings.
For this task, check
Billing data can arrive late. Equal elapsed windows improve the comparison but do not remove weekday, workload, pricing or credit differences.
Before you begin
- Permitted inputs covering the listed reporting windows
- Review the Google Cloud setup and supported export coverage
- Review live Connection and Action availability before enabling recurring work
Work with permitted files or queryable data. Verify the result against the original records.
Synthetic illustrative example
See the method in practice.
Synthetic input. Illustrative output checked locally; this is not a live Proforma run or customer result. A partial current month is compared with the same first ten reporting days, rather than the entire prior month.
These invented records explain the method. They are not a recorded Proforma run.
| Period | Covered days | Net USD |
|---|---|---|
| Prior month | 1–10 | 80 |
| Current month | 1–10 | 110 |
| Prior full month | 1–31 | 248 |
| Measure | USD or percent | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Matched prior | 80 | First ten days |
| Matched current | 110 | First ten days |
| Matched change | 30 / 37.5% | Same elapsed window |
Method
Use the same timezone and cutoff for both ten-day windows. Compute USD 110 minus USD 80 = USD 30, and USD 30 divided by USD 80 = 37.5%. The USD 248 full-month total supplies separate context and never becomes the matched-window denominator.
What the result tells you
The sample increases 37.5% over matched days. This does not forecast the final monthly bill or remove differences in weekdays, workload, prices or credits. A real export's watermark and missing history must stay visible.
